On the first installment of this exhibition, Liz Trosper’s large scale banners prominently integrate gestural lines with images of the hands that made them. These banners not only serve as a tether to the first installment, but also a thematic guide to understanding the accompanying works. The featured works are rooted in corporality; some works reference the body directly, others are assisted heavily by the traces the body leaves behind, while others use their body as material itself. This exhibition explores the use of the body across different artistic practices; including painting (Kennedy), performance (Cruz), photography (Brielle, Cruz, Han), sculpture (Han, Kennedy), and video (Clark).
This installment of Frontside/Backside opens at 4DWN SkatePark January 21st, and runs through February 25th. An opening reception will be held on January 21st, from 3-5pm. A durational performance by Christian Cruz will take place during the closing reception on February 25th, 3-5pm.
Frontside/Backside would not be possible without the assistance of 4DWN, Box Company, and Barry Whistler Gallery.
